TOMMY EMMANUEL TO TOUR REGIONAL AUSTRALIA THIS NOVEMBER/DECEMBER

NOTE: There is no online pre-sale for Araluen Arts Centre, Alice Springs.

One of the greatest players on the planet” – Chet Atkins
“The best (guitar player) I’ve ever seen” – Eric Clapton
Fresh from sellout concerts in Japan, the UK, Russia, Germany, Italy, Canada and the US, Tommy Emmanuel - The Guitar Wizard of Oz – is set to tour regional Australia for the first time in over a decade in November and December, promoters Rob Potts and Jeff Lewis announced today.

Two-time Grammy nominee Emmanuel is one of Australia's most respected musicians with a professional career spanning five decades. He was named ‘Best Acoustic Guitarist of 2010’ by the prestigious US ‘Guitar Player Magazine’ and counts legendary guitarists Eric Clapton and Steve Vai amongst his admirers. After the rave reviews and sell-out shows on his 50th Anniversary tour with brother Phil in 2009 and his hugely successful solo tour of Australian capital cities last year, Tommy is back with a special treat for some of the smaller centres.

“I can’t wait to get out and play some of the smaller towns I haven’t got to visit in a long while,” says Tommy. “I’m looking forward to catching up with lots of old friends in the crowd”.

Tommy’s unique style is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a band for melody, rhythm, bass and drum parts, Tommy plays all that - and more - on one guitar. Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire young Emmanuel to try this 'fingerpicker' style. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel's biggest fans.

Guitar players of all levels come to his shows to witness the magic hands of “The Guitar Wizard of Oz”, but his appeal goes far beyond musicians. Tommy Emmanuel's message is pure love for the guitar and the music and his delight in sharing it with the world, one audience at a time.

Alan Jackson sells out in Tamworth

US SUPERSTAR ALAN JACKSON
SELLS OUT IN COUNTRY MUSIC CAPITAL
In a scene that harkened back to the days before the Internet, Tamworth music fans were camped out around the block this morning, eager to secure their chance to catch legendary singer/songwriter Alan Jackson on his first ever visit to the country music capital.
Ticketing outlets were overwhelmed as determined music fans lined up at box offices, jammed phone lines and overloaded the ticketing website to the point where it crashed. Tech support sprung into action and tickets were soon back on sale, being sold as fast as they could be processed.
The end result was that the October 2 concert sold out of all allocated seats in half a day.
“We were excited to see the huge demand and enthusiasm from people in Tamworth and throughout the region today as they voted with their hard earned cash to snap up the tickets for Jackson’s first ever concert in the city,” said promoter Rob Potts.
John Sommerlad, Director Business & Events, Tamworth Regional Council said, “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response from the Tamworth region. The Alan Jackson concert ticket sales are proof of the appetite within our community for country music and for big name artists. We will continue to work hard to attract major artists to Tamworth and in doing so cement the city’s reputation as a major entertainment destination.”

Jackson, whose first visit to Australia in 2011 was the fastest-selling country tour in Australian history, added this 5th Arena concert in Tamworth to shows already announced in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as well as visits to Townsville and Deniliquin to headline the CMC Rocks North QLD and Deni Ute Muster festivals.

Alan Jackson is one of the most successful and respected singer-songwriters in music. He’s in the elite company of Lennon and McCartney among artists who’ve written and recorded more than 20 US #1 hits. He’s sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide, and has scored nearly 40 Top 10 hits in Australia, with 15 #1s including “Good Time,” “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere,” “Little Bitty” and “I’ll Go On Loving You” – each spent a month at the top of the Australian music charts.

“Coming from the Country Music Capital up yonder, I’m looking forward to hitting the Country Music Capital down under!” Jackson says. “It’s great that we were able to add Tamworth to the tour.”

Jackson will be joined on the tour by special guests Sara Evans (USA) and Morgan Evans. Sara Evans is a platinum-selling CMA and ACM Award-winning American country singer with a string of #1 hits including Born to Fly and her most-recent album, A Little Bit Stronger.

Newcastle singer/songwriter Morgan Evans is the reigning CMC New Oz Artist of the Year, with three #1 singles and two acclaimed EPs under his belt. His as yet untitled debut album will be released shortly before the tour commences.

Alan Jackson announces Tamworth show!

Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and Foxtel’s Country Music Channel (CMC) are thrilled to announce that American country music superstar, Alan Jackson, will play his first show in Australia’s country music capital Tamworth on Wednesday, 2 October, 2013, as part of his Australian tour.

At a media call at 11.00am in Tamworth today, promoters Rob Potts (Rob Potts Entertainment Edge) and Matthew Lazarus-Hall (GM CEO of Chugg Entertainment) and Acting Mayor, Russell Webb, jointly announced the details of the concert and unveiled details of “Alan Jackson Boulevard”, a street to be renamed for the day in honour of the country music superstar when he hits town in October.

Last month, Tamworth Region Mayor Col Murray and Nashville Mayor Karl Dean signed a treaty at the Hall of Fame Rotunda at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to officially join Tamworth and Nashville as the city’s 7th sister city, formalizing the relationship between the two international music destinations.

Tamworth Regional Council Acting Mayor Russell Webb said it was a great coup for Tamworth to secure a concert as part of Jackson’s Australian tour. “It will be a huge event – it’s amazing to have someone of his star power coming here” he said.

Jackson, whose first visit to Australia in 2011 was the fastest-selling country tour in Australian history, has added this 5th Arena concert in Tamworth to shows already announced in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as well as visits to Townsville and Deniliquin to headline the CMC Rocks North QLD and Deni Ute Muster festivals.

The Mavericks to play Sydney show August 23!

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AUSTRALIA
THE MAVERICKS
TO PLAY INTIMATE SYDNEY SHOW

After many years of waiting, Australian music fans have had their hopes rewarded, with the news that legendary genre-defying American band The Mavericks will perform their first ever concert on Aussie soil. The group will perform a one-off standing room only show at the Hi-Fi in Sydney.
"The fans have always understood us," says lead singer Raul Malo. "We made them feel good – and that was something then, as now I think, people wanted. Life is so serious; even for a moment, let's forget and enjoy!"
The Mavericks will take Sydney by storm on Friday August 23rd at the Hi-Fi before heading to Queensland to headline the Gympie Music Muster, one of Australia’s longest running and most respected country festivals, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th.
Two decades have passed since their polyrhythmic brand of post-modern country has given the world "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down," "What A Crying Shame," and "Dance The Night Away." The country-steeped garage band with a Cuban American lead singer that had emerged from Miami in 1989 with their sultry debut that was equal parts innocence, intensity, and vintage influences reunited in 2012 after an eight-year hiatus.
“The boundary-bending band’s reunion performance was as effervescent as fans of its ‘90s incarnation might have hoped. With plenty of support from five touring members along with the core quartet, singer Raul Malo once again demonstrated his remarkably evocative voice...” Los Angeles Times
“Not only has the group released one of the first great albums of 2013 (In Time) but a rousing 130-minute set at the Coach House Saturday night, before a crowd that filled every corner of the venue, further confirmed the continuing excitement of the Mavericks' spirited comeback.” OC Register
Their reunion has yielded a whole new generation of Mavericks fans, drawn to the unforgettable sound and energy of the band through their recent live shows and their new album In Time, released earlier this year.
The Grammy, CMA and ACM award winners are renowned for their high-octane live performances, with Raul Malo’s incredible voice soaring over the inimitable interlocking groove of the band. Audiences have been known to dance involuntarily, gripped by the spirit of the Mavericks.
Special guest on the Sydney show will be local hell-raisers the Adam Eckersley Band, who share the headliners’ defiance of genre boundaries. Their music encompasses nimble rockers, fiddle-led stompers, reflective acoustic tunes and blistering country-rock.

CMC Rocks North QLD Second line-up announcement!

Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and Foxtel’s Country Music Channel (CMC) are thrilled to announce that Aussie hell-raisers Adam Brand, McAlister Kemp, Buddy Goode, The Wolfe Brothers, Jayne Denham and Doug Bruce and the Tailgaters will complete the massive artist lineup for the CMC Rocks North QLD 2013 one-day festival at Reid Park, Townsville.
These in-demand artists will join previously announced international superstars, Alan Jackson (USA), Sara Evans (USA), and Corb Lund (CAN), along with local artists, Jasmine Rae and Morgan Evans. The festival will be held on Saturday 28 September 2013.
12-time Golden Guitar winner ADAM BRAND is one of our most-requested artists, with a string of acclaimed albums and hit singles, including Dirt Track Cowboys, Get Loud and There Will Be Love, winning him a passionate fanbase, who voted him CMC Oz Artist of the Year for five years running. His dynamic on-stage presence extends beyond music – he also won Australian television’s, Dancing With The Stars, in 2009.
McALISTER KEMP is one of the hottest acts in Australian country. A rowdy, quintessentially Australian duo, Drew McAlister and Troy Kemp have built up a loyal following around the country for their high-energy live shows and party anthems including Country Proud, Hell Yeah and Cold Beer Hot Women. The former CMC New Oz Artists of the Year are a festival favourite throughout Oz and toured as special guests of Alan Jackson on his first 2011 sold-out Australian tour.
Current ARIA-winning icon, BUDDY GOODE, is quite simply a global country music comedy legend. The voice of multiple generations, and an inspiration to artists as different as Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, the former American television variety host has made his home in Oz for the past few years. He is renowned for his classic hits, including Cougarville, Dickens Cider and the touching, Unforgiving Wind.
THE WOLFE BROS burst into people’s homes and hearts from their first appearance on television’s Australia’s Got Talent. The electrifying spirit of their live performances and catalogue of hooky original songs saw them take out second place in the grand final and took them from the best country act in Tasmania to a nation-wide favourite. In 2013, they released their debut album and hit the road with Oz country legend, Lee Kernaghan.
Song titles like Renegade, Addicted to the Diesel and Shake This Town showcase the spirit of JAYNE DENHAM. A road-hardened Aussie outlaw, Jayne has developed a style of music she calls ‘renegade country’, an honest, guitar-driven sound that has kept audiences glued to the stage in pubs, clubs and festivals throughout Australia. The award-winning singer-songwriter writes and sings the songs about the country she loves and the people on the land.
DOUG BRUCE AND THE TAILGATERS are the love child of Australia and America. Hailing from Texas, Doug Bruce made two big moves. First he moved from the drum kit to the front of the stage, plugging in his electric guitar and building a sound that’s been described as “two shots of Travis with a Haggard chaser”. Then six years ago, he moved to Australia. His new home has embraced him, sending his singles up the charts and cheering his many appearances on festival stages.
The festival will be hosted by MIKE CARR, the charismatic hit singer/songwriter who has acted as master of ceremonies since the first CMC Rocks event in 2008.
“A festival of this magnitude is so exciting to be a part of, and a true testament to the strength of the genre here in Australia”, said promoter, Michael Chugg. “This  event gets so much worldwide recognition; seen by the calibre of international acts that want to be a part of it. And now to announce this huge billing of local acts; there’s no denying that country is king!”
Promoter, Rob Potts, added, “We know how much Queenslanders love to party!” And, after a tough couple of years, this latest group of Aussie artists is sure to bring the party alive in North Queensland”.
Now in its sixth year, the CMC Rocks festival brand has established itself as the biggest International Country & Roots Festival brand outside of North America. The festivals draw fans from all states and territories in Australia and overseas to both the Hunter Valley NSW and Townsville QLD.
The previous CMC Rocks North QLD was held in 2010 and featured international headliner, Tim McGraw (USA).
Make sure you’re part of the CMC Rocks North QLD once-in-a-lifetime experience in 2013, featuring international headliner, Alan Jackson (USA)!
