Jasmine Rae talks rural touring and ARIA Nominations

"My favourite venue is in Kuranda in Queensland, near Cairns, and it is kind of out of the way because you have to go up into a rainforest and it’s an outdoor amphitheater in a rainforest. It is the coolest venue."

Check out this great interview with Jasmine Rae at Jolene: The Country Music Blog - http://jolenethecountrymusicblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/interview-jasmine-rae.html

In other news, Jasmine was nominated today for FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR at next year's Golden Guitar awards in Tamworth.

Wynonna Judd, Tracy Lawrence and others complete CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012 lineup!

After months of impressive artist announcements and record ticket sales, Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and XYZ Networks are thrilled to announce the final four additions to the lineup for CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012.

They are US country music superstar, Wynonna Judd, traditional country music hitmaker, Tracy Lawrence (US), and successful ex-pats, now living in Nashville, Sherrie Austin (US) and O’Shea (US). You can see them all at the three-day festival, held at the beautiful *Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley (NSW), over the weekend of Fri 16-Sun 18 March, 2012. .

Five-time Grammy winner, Wynonna Judd (US), commands her audience with her rich and powerful voice and was described by Rolling Stone as “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline”, After selling 20 million albums as one half of legendary duo, The Judds,  Wynonna launched her solo career in 1992, with her quintuple platinum self-titled debut. This was followed by a string of hit solo albums, chart-topping singles, another 10 million album sales, and numerous awards, including ACM’s Female Vocalist of the Year. Wynonna’s unique bluesy twist on country music is why she’s such a beloved singer and artist worldwide.

Tracy Lawrence (US) has eighteen #1 singles to serve as a potent reminder that Lawrence is one of the premiere country artists of his generation. One of the leading lights of the 1990s neo-traditional country movement, the singer, songwriter and producer is known for his unmistakable voice and retaining his own pure country sound through changing trends and fashion.

One of our brightest exports, Sherrie Austin (US), headed to the US in the late 90s as a sitcom star (The Facts of Life) and released two stellar albums, before taking a break to concentrate on her songwriting full-time. It paid off, with artists like Tim McGraw and George Strait recording her songs. Now, Sherrie has recorded a new album of her own, Circus Girl, and for the first time in twelve years, is eager to come home to perform at CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012.

O’Shea (US), the popular husband-and-wife duo, rocked the Hunter this year to an enthusiastic reception and now, the ex-pats are coming back for more in 2012. Mark and Jay O’Shea were both born and raised in Oz, but set off to Nashville in 2007, to pursue their dream of a country music career. A successful run on the US TV series, Can You Duet, kick-started their career together and led to their dynamic debut album, Mr. and Mrs.

All artists included in the final festival lineup of CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012 are:
TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL (US),
Dierks Bentley (US), Wynonna Judd (US), Lee Kernaghan, Tracy Lawrence (US),

CMC Rock the Hunter lineup expands!

For Immediate Release: Thursday 10th November 2011

NEWLY-ANNOUNCED ARTISTS ADDED
TO FESTIVAL’S BIGGEST LINEUP!

Already bursting at the seams with brilliant performers, festival organisers for CMC ROCKS THE HUNTER 2012 announced twelve more artists in the lineup today.

They are - Beccy Cole, The Sunny Cowgirls, Travis Collins, Peter McWhirter, Harry Hookey, Luke Austen, The Davidson Bros, Harmony James, Kaylee Bell, Travis List, Doug Bruce & The Tailgaters and Ross Ward’s Express - who will now all be appearing at the beautiful Hope Estate* in the Hunter Valley (NSW) over the 3-day weekend of March 16-18 next year.

These twelve newly-announced artists will be joining US superstars, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, who are headlining the festival in their first Aussie tour together, Dierks Bentley, Lee Kernaghan, and many more international and local performers, who have already helped establish this annual event as the biggest country and roots festival of its kind in Australia!

Having already racked up an impressive 7 Golden Guitars, 3 Gold Records, 2 Entertainer of the Year awards and a legion of loyal fans, Beccy Cole has one of the best live shows in the country. She is the real deal, a divorced working mother who delights audiences with single-handed pushups on stage, whilst belting out one of her numerous hits, or taking her audience on a journey with story.

It sometimes seems like The Sunny Cowgirls have risen straight from the warm heart of Australia. They radiate sunshine and that dry, laconic, Aussie sense of humour. And Sunny Cowgirls, Sophie and Celeste Clabburn, are the first to admit that they need a little dirt under their fingernails to create their own very special brand of music. Renowned throughout the land for their easy stage charisma, CMC Rocks veterans are gearing up to take the Hunter by storm next March.

Travis Collins is as well-known for his electrifying guitar playing and stellar vocals, as he is for his songwriting. With a career that has seen him co-write with Keith Urban, tour with Suzi Quatro, and perform at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Travis is still young and hungry enough to keep evolving as an artist and live performer. His new self-titled, labour of love album, just released, Travis Collins, confirms his journey.

Peter McWhirter blends a young pub-rock-pop energy with contemporary country music to form his own distinctive sound. Since the release of his Nashville-produced, debut album, Lucky as a Se7en, at the end of last year, Peter has had four hit singles and music videos to date, helping him grow his fun young fan base.

Harry Hookey learned to play guitar and write songs by listening to Bob Dylan records and honing his chops playing with bands around Victoria. His big break came last year, when he won the Telstra Road to Discovery competition in Tamworth. He has since recorded his debut EP, set for release soon, and performed at the NZ Country Music Awards 2011, as well as at Nashville’s Americana Music Festival.

Two-time Golden Guitar winner Luke Austen earned his stripes touring the outback with country music icon, Brian Young, for four years before becoming a mainstay of Troy Cassar Daley's band from 2004. He stepped out on his own, winning Toyota Starmaker 2009, and releasing his debut album, Light of Day, in 2010.

2009 & 2010 Golden Guitar winners and 2010 Group of the Year at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards, The Davidson Brothers, have built a reputation as two of Australia’s hottest bluegrass exponents - multi instrumentalists on banjo, fiddle, mandolin - and great entertainers with an enormous respect for the traditions of the genre.

Born in Victoria to a Baptist preacher, as one of 12 children, Harmony James had a sheltered childhood, with private tuition and few friends. After discovering country music from a Randy Travis record, she turned her talents to songwriting and released her debut album, Tailwind, in 2008. Her second album, Handfuls of Sky, is set for release in January.

At the tender age of 21, New Zealand’s Kaylee Bell already has an impressive list of accolades to her name, including NZ Gold Guitar Winner. Kaylee is a rising singer/songwriter, who impresses with her powerful delivery, vocal range and heartfelt lyrics.

Travis List is a country music traditionalist, inspired by Merle Haggard to leave South Australia, and base himself in Nashville, soaking up the spirit of Music City. A fiery guitarist and dynamic live performer, Travis is thrilled to visit home again to perform at CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012.

Texan-born singer/songwriter, Doug Bruce, now resides in Bendigo, Australia. With his band, The Tailgaters, he has been impressing die-hard country fans, and new converts alike, with his rich voice and natural affinity for the southern country sound.

Ross Ward’s Express is a swampy travelogue through popular music and its country, blues, rock, surf, soul and jazz landscapes. Ross describes his band’s music as “organic” and crowds around Australia have been responding to their honest, stripped-down, raw energy and sound.

Artists announced for 3 days of CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012 are - TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL (US), Dierks Bentley (US), Lee Kernaghan, Eli Young Band (US), Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses, James Blundell, Craig Campbell (US), Jim Lauderdale (US), Colt Ford (US), Steve Forde, Shane Nicholson, Jedd Hughes (US), Felicity Urquhart, Catherine Britt, McAlister Kemp, Morgan Evans, Kirsty Akers, Pete Denahy, Buddy Goode, Jetty Road and Jayne Denham.

The newly-announced artists in the lineup are - Beccy Cole, The Sunny Cowgirls, Travis Collins, Peter McWhirter, Harry Hookey, Luke Austen, Davidson Bros, Harmony James, Kaylee Bell, Travis List, Doug Bruce & The Tailgaters and Ross Ward’s Express - with even more artists still to be announced.

The festival will once again be hosted by GAC television personality, Storme Warren (US), from Headline Country. Storme will be joined by co-hosts, Darren Carr and Mike Carr.

For the first time in the festival’s history, organizers have introduced a Time to Pay Option, which has received an overwhelmingly positive response and take-up from fans. However, this option is only available until Tuesday 15 November, where tickets can be ordered immediately, with payments spread over several months. After this date, tickets must be purchased with one single payment.

Dierks Bentley and Lee Kernaghan to tour Australia next March!

Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, Chugg Entertainment and CMC are thrilled to announce that US superstar Dierks Bentley and Aussie country icon Lee Kernaghan are hitting the road together for a limited series of dynamic concerts in March.

Aussie audiences went crazy for DIERKS BENTLEY (USA) when he joined Brooks & Dunn on their sold-out 2009 Australian arena tour. Since he rocketed onto the country landscape in 2003, the singer/songwriter’s five albums have sold over five million copies, earned 10 GRAMMY nominations, have spawned eight No. one hits and 12 Top 10 hits. Bentley recently released the anthemic “Home” as the second single off his upcoming sixth Capitol Nashville album. The new album is scheduled for release in early 2012 and has already scored Bentley the No. one hit “Am I The Only One.”

20 years of incredible hits have cemented LEE KERNAGHAN as the modern-day King of Australian Country Music. He has criss-crossed the country countless times and his fans keep coming back for more of his patented brand of hard rocking, uniquely Australian country. Lee has just released his 2-CD “Ultimate Hits” package in September, which catalogues one of the great Australian music careers, which has produced 31 #1 chart hits and record sales approaching two million units in Australia alone.

Bentley and Kernaghan became friends after meeting during Dierks’ first trip to Australia in 2009, leading to their #1 hit duet ‘Scars’, which recently topped the charts in Australia.
“It’s great to have Dierks back in Oz and this will be the first time the pair have performed together live,” said promoter Rob Potts. “Fans have a unique opportunity to see the two acts up close in the more intimate theatre venues, something that doesn’t happen often with the big US country stars”.
Tickets for all shows go on sale 9am Monday 7th November.

Tommy Emmanuel to perform at Adelaide Guitar Festival 2012

2-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia's most respected musicians with a professional career spanning five decades. After the rave reviews and sell-out shows of his 50th Anniversary tour with his brother Phil, Tommy is returning to his homeland next August to perform at the Adelaide Guitar Festival, August 5 2012.

His unique style is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a band for melody, rhythm, bass and drum parts, Tommy plays all that - and more - on one guitar.

Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire young Emmanuel to try this 'fingerpicker' style. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel's biggest fans.

Guitar players of all levels come to his shows to witness the magic hands of the 'Guitar Wizard of Oz', but his appeal goes far beyond musicians. Tommy Emmanuel's message is pure love for the guitar and the music and his delight in sharing it with the world, one audience at a time.

Special guest, Frank Vignola is widely regarded as a monster player and composer, and has played with everyone from Les Paul and Madonna through to Donald Fagen and the Boston Pops. This will be Frank's first visit to Australia.

"The best (guitar player) I've ever seen" - Eric Clapton

"...one of the greatest players on the planet!" - Chet Atkins

LOCAL NEWCASTLE & HUNTER REGION STARS ANNOUNCED!

The already star-studded lineup for CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012 has just expanded with the addition of four stellar artists who hail from the Hunter Valley region - Catherine Britt, McAlister Kemp, Morgan Evans and Kirsty Akers.
Catherine Britt has come a long way since Elton John discovered her as a traditionalist teenage prodigy. After a six years living and recording in Nashville, Catherine returned to Australia to be crowned Female Artist of the Year at the 2009 Golden Guitar Awards. She has continued to blaze her own path as one of our most dynamic and poetic singer-songwriters. She recently returned to the US to perform a special showcase at the Americana Music Festival.
McAlister Kemp were named CMC New Oz Artist at this year’s CMC Rocks the Hunter, but were unable to accept the award as the rowdy duo were on the road, opening for country icon, Alan Jackson. Just another milestone in the career of the reigning Golden Guitar New Artist of the Year, who are readying the follow-up to their hit debut album, “All Kinds of Tough”, for release soon.
Morgan Evans spent his teenage years fronting a Newcastle rock trio, before incorporating his love of country music as well to his contemporary sound. The singer-songwriter’s debut single, “Big Skies”, went to #1 on radio and the CMC National Video Chart and he quickly built a devoted fanbase. His energetic on-stage charisma led to tours with US superstars, Taylor Swift, Brooks and Dunn and Gary Allan. Morgan’s new EP is set for release in coming months, with his self-penned track, “Live Each Day”, as the new single.
Kirsty Akers makes music that owes as much to Mumford and Sons as it does the traditional sounds of Dolly Parton. The singer-songwriter began her professional career at age 17 and has gone on to become an acclaimed performer and Golden Guitar winner. Kirsty’s local roots are deep - she’s a descendant of the Wanaruah people, who have lived in the Hunter Valley region for centuries.
Now in its fifth year, the CMC Rocks the Hunter festival has established itself as the biggest International Country & Roots Festival outside of North America. One of the premiere events on the Australian music calendar, it brings together the best international and local country and roots performers in the beautiful surrounds of the *Hope Estate.
“The Hunter Valley region isn’t just a gorgeous location for the festival, it’s home to a number of hugely talented singer-songwriters and musicians,” said festival co-promoter, Rob Potts. “It’s great for us to be able to feature some world-class performers in their own backyard.”
In a first for 2012, the promoters have announced the addition of a main stage program on Friday 16 March from 4pm-11pm. The festival will continue through Saturday 17 March and Sunday 18 March, when US headliners, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, will close the proceedings.
Artists announced for 3 days of CMC Rocks the Hunter 2012 are - TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL (US), Dierks Bentley (US), Lee Kernaghan, Eli Young Band (US), Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses, James Blundell, Craig Campbell (US), Jim Lauderdale (US), Colt Ford (US), Steve Forde, Shane Nicholson, Jedd Hughes (US), Felicity Urquhart, Pete Denahy, Buddy Goode, Jetty Road and Jayne Denham.
The four local area artists are also now included - Catherine Britt, McAlister Kemp, Morgan Evans and Kirsty Akers - with more artists still to be announced.
DOLLY PARTON’S BETTER DAY WORLD TOUR ADDS A FINAL SHOW IN SYDNEY

On Sale Thursday 20 October 9am Ticketek

“Dolly put on a full-immersion show that inspired the crowd to leap to their feet cheering, to dance, to call out ‘We love you Dolly’!” Dallas Observer

“… it was stunningly beautiful, a near-impossible feat of gossamer finesse and steely control. It was mesmerising.”The Telegraph, UK (on Parton singing Little Sparrow acapella)

“The performance was truly stunning. Viva la Dolly Parton.” morethanmusic.co.uk

Dolly Parton adds her twelfth and final Australian show in what will be one of the biggest concert tours of the summer. But twelve shows is not the only impressive statistic of this country star's return to Australia. The stage set has 159,360 LED bulbs. Dolly’s gold piano has 1.6 million sequins on it. Each of Dolly’s performance outfits has over 120,000 bugle beads and over 6,000 rhinestones. 43 guitars are used on stage each night and over 2,000rehearsal hour have been stitched up. It is safe to say that Australia is set for a wild ride when the Queen of Country hits our shores this November!

As if the ride wasn’t sparkling enough, Rob Potts Entertainment Edge are thrilled to confirm that a second Sydney date will now be added to the already extensive national run on Tuesday 29th November at Allphones Arena (Acer Arena became Allphones Arena on 1st Sept). With one show already sold out this will be the second and final show for Sydney fans.

Having spent the northern hemisphere summer touring across America, Europe and the UK, Dolly has been taking international audiences in the palm of her acrylic-nailed hands and showing them just why she’s received decades of adulation and continues to do so. The reviews are in, and they’re good - fantastically good! The Birmingham Mailsaid of her show a few weeks back “Dolly showed she still possesses the showbiz sparkle that keeps fans coming back for more after five decades in the music business…” and The Guardian stated “…her voice is as pure as mountain air.”

In an all new stage production, the Better Day World Tour will pull up the massive tour bus for the final time in Australia - and what better place for Dolly’s party to come to an end than with her Australian fans who’ve not seen her on our turf for over 20 years.

The Queen of Country reigns supreme and declares November the month of Dolly! Do not miss out!

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill touring in March 2012!

TIM MCGRAW & FAITH HILL
AUSTRALIAN TOUR – MARCH 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : Friday, September 2, 2011

Country music's reigning king and queen, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will tour Australia for the first time together next March, promoters Rob Potts Entertainment Edge and Chugg Entertainment announced today.

The Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 tour will be the first time the country music superstars have toured together outside of North America, will be Hill’s first time touring Australia and will include them performing separately and together.

It will feature their massive hits including McGraw’s Live Like You Were Dying, Everywhere, Real Good Man and Hill’s Breathe, This Kiss and The Way You Love Me, as well as duets It’s Your Love, Let’s Make Love and I Need You.

In addition to their already-announced headlining performance at CMC Rocks the Hunter, the six-concert tour will play a night in each Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, and two nights in Brisbane.

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 will mark almost five years since the power couple last toured together and will be only the fourth time they have ever done it – first in 2000, then 2006 and 2007.

The 2006/2007 tours made theirs the highest-grossing country music tour of all time, and the highest-grossing that year, full stop, beating out the likes of Madonna, Tom Petty and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

The long-awaited Tim McGraw & Faith Hill / Australia 2012 tour kicks off at the Burswood Dome in Perth on March 14, plays the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on March 16, CMC Rocks the Hunter on March 18, the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on March 20, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 23 & 24 and wraps up at Sydney’s Allphones Arena on March 27 (Sydney’s Acer Arena became Allphones Arena on September 1).

McGraw and Hill have been dominating the charts since the early 90s, and have produced 70 million record sales, 8 Grammys and 46 US number one singles between them.

Hill, a multi-platinum crossover artist whose hits This Kiss and The Way You Love Me are recurrent playlist favourites on Australian radio, has performed at the famed Super Bowl twice, The Academy Awards and The Grammy Awards.  She has graced the covers of, amongst other publications, People Magazine, Marie Claire and In Style.

McGraw returns to Australia following his Southern Voice tour in 2010.  McGraw’s Brisbane Entertainment Centre concert sold out within fifteen minutes, shows in Sydney and Melbourne followed suit, and promoters added a second Brisbane and an outdoor show in Townsville.

Of any musical genre, McGraw was USA radio’s most played artist of the past decade, receiving 7.8 million spins.  McGraw is a musician and an actor with roles in Flicka (2006), The Blind Side (2009) and Country Strong (2010) alongside Gwyneth Paltrow.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are autonomously amazing, but together they’re a partnership powerhouse, particularly when it comes to touring.

Don’t miss Tim McGraw and Faith Hill touring together for the first time in Australia.
